To Whom Much is Given...

Working with Christians to Feed the Hungry this Thanksgiving got me to thinking about how people would complete the simple sentence:

To whom much is given . . .

Stewardship - The Basis for Most Things

Let’s talk about stewardship. Simply put, stewardship is taking care of someone else’s money or property properly. Stewardship traces its roots to Biblical teachings and should inform and direct anyone in a position of leadership.

The concept of stewardship informs my view of the world and we need a lot more of it these days. It’s more than just talk. It’s about how we act everyday.

South Carolina Outdoors

I had the pleasure this weekend of going bird hunting with some good friends in Society Hill. The weather was great and we bagged quite a few quail, pheasants and chukar. These birds are currently brining to be cooked up this week.

Veterans Day

In the wake of the attack at Fort Hood, and the daily attacks on our service members in the Middle East, Veterans Day holds special importance.

House Passes Health Care Bill

Late Saturday night, the House of Representatives passed the Health Care Bill. The issue now goes to the Senate. The focus of the effort, in my view, needs to remain on reining in the health insurance companies. The only question that needs to be asked is what impact any bill will have on the families of South Carolina.

What we need is stable, affordable coverage that can't be dropped when you get sick. We need to eliminate the preexisitng condition issue because  it keeps families from moving to better jobs, or starting their own business.

Aiken Democrat Fish Fry

Traveled to Aiken today to attend the annual Democratic Party fish fry. Well attended; everyone seemed to have a good time. Except perhaps the fish.

Got to meet with Rob Miller, Jane Dyer, and James Smith for Vincent Sheheen.

It was good to see everyone.
